Advantages and comparison of BuurtBSO and BSO

About BuurtBSO

BuurtBSO let's you share your child's after-school care with other parents and their children in your neighborhood. This platform helps you connect with other parents who are also interested in this arrangement.

How does it work?

You pick up your child and another child (or children) from school on one day and look after them. On another day, another parent will pick up your child from school and take care of them. Before you start you meet to talk about your expectations and agree on how to run your BuurtBSO (see the list of questions to discuss).

What does BuurtBSO offer?

A village for your child!

BuurtBSO finds other parents in your neighborhood who need after school care and can offer care on the days that match your preferences. We will make a match for you based on where your child attends school, the days of daycare needed, your own availability, the age of your child(ren), and of course the neighborhood you live in so that pick-up at the end of the day takes little time. In addition, you get access to the platform where you can ask anonymous questions and exchange tips with other parents. You can also find parents in your neighborhood who can occasionally pick up your child at times of need and vice versa. In addition, we regularly share inspiring activities with the members of BuurtBSO.

What are the advantages?

More attention

Better together

Your child will be cared for in a small group, ensuring more personalized attention than at a traditional after-school care facility.

You save a lot of money on after-school care by sharing responsibilities with other parents.

To be at home

Your child feels "at home" with other families; it's educational for them to see how different families live.

Parent friends

Other parents in your neighbourhood know your child and can step in in unforeseen situations.

Neighborhood feeling

You will build connections with other families in your neighborhood and feel even more at home.

Use your flexibility

Newfound flexibility in your work hours and location that came up during the COVID-crisis can be a game-changer for prioritizing your child's needs!

Four steps to BuurtBSO

01.

Sign up by completing the registration form. We will contact you for some additional information and find a match for you based on your elementary school and your preferences: the days you need care, the day you can provide care yourself, the age of your child(ren) and the neighborhood you live in.

02.

We will notify you via email and SMS as soon as we find a suitable match for you. You will receive details about the child and what the other parents value. If it sounds good to you, let us know!

03.

You will receive the contact details of the other parent(s) so you can plan to meet them. This is when you discuss important topics, like pick up times, the way the kids will be transported, etc. (See the list of questions to discuss ). Do you agree? Then you have a match! This is when you pay the matching fee.

04.

You pay a one-time fee of 80 euros for your match and become a member of the community for 10 euros per month.  Via the online community you can find more and different matches to arrange for further child care. After one year, you can cancel your community membership on a monthly basis.
