Frequently Asked Questions

How is a match created?

A match is made when another parent with a child in the same school, in the same or adjacent (+/-) grade level, residing in your postal code or a neighboring one, seeks childcare for the same days.

How much time do I need to plan for BuurtBSO?

You'll be responsible for picking up the children from school and caring for them until their parents arrive, based on the agreement with the other families.

Do I have to pay the other parents?

BuurtBSO is based on the exchange of service. Hence, you should not expect to get paid but exchange the value of childcare. The costs you incur while watching your child and other children should be considered like the costs during a playdate unless otherwise agreed between the parties.

How does a BuurtBSO work during the vacation? A few options!

Option 1: Coordinate with the other family to see if it's possible to arrange full days.

Option 2: Hire a babysitter and share the costs with the other family.

Option 3: Ask if you can extend the days at the regular after-school care during the vacation period.

What if I am looking for childcare for three days, one of which I want to do myself?

If you require care for three days, specify the days you need under "Days of Care Needed" and the days you can provide care under "Days of Care Provided." You will need two other families to complete the arrangement.

What is meant with cost saving?

Three days traditional BSO would account for 800EUR gross. If you share the care for 3 days with 2 other families, you save 800EUR gross by only providing care for 2-3 hours per week.

What happens if I am sick or my child is sick on "my day"?

This obviously depends on the type of illness.

If you are sick, you still need to arrange care for your own child. Perhaps your partner, grandparents, or a babysitter could help with your child and the BuurtBSO child on that day.

If your child is sick, depending on the nature of the illness, you might consider planning lighter activities for the day or asking the other family to swap days.

This is a good topic to discuss in advance.

How do I know if another family is a good match?

Once matched with another family, you may want to arrange a playdate or visit each other. It's important to discuss your needs, availability, expectations, and all related practical matters. We will share some themes with you that we believe should be discussed once we have found your match.

How do I know if my school is already registered?

If your school is not listed in the registration menu, please contact info@buurtbso.nl. We will add your school and inform other parents in your community.
